Hi everyone! We're just two regular girls, but we've got a big dream to help sick children and have fun while we're at it. That's why we created a team called 1000 Cranes For Kids. If you've never heard of that, I'll fill you in a bit.
"Thousand Origami Cranes" is a group of one thousand origami paper cranes held together by strings. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures, and is said to live for a thousand years. In Japan, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person's wish come true. A Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
1000 Cranes For Kids is a team that makes origami cranes for many places that hold people that may lack confidence or hope. Once we make a thousand cranes, we send them to a Orphanage in Haiti, or to be exact, Port-Au-Prince. Port-Au-Prince is where the Earthquake struck in Haiti, and we thought it would be cool to send them to a Orphanage there. However, if that ends up not working out, I believe we have somewhere in Ecuador we may be able to send the cranes to as well.
It's just a small team right now, but we plan on making many cranes and giving many people hope. We hope this will inspire people out there to make peace and help other people that have been sick or have been parentless for a very long time feel loved and thought about. If you were touched by this story just as we were, feel free to join us and make cranes for sick people all across the world. Thank you for reading, and have a nice day!
